Forward Facing welcomes the famous pantomime dame, Mama G as new Patron!

Described by the Metro as “everyone’s favourite pantomime dame”, Mama G is taking on a new role as our new Patron. You may recognise her from one of her iconic moments on stage and of course TV’s ‘Britian’s Got Talent’.

In January 2022 Mama G took to the stage of the iconic London Palladium and auditioned for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, leading dame super-group Dame Nation. They went on to compete in the livesemi-finals and Mama G is glad to no longer be hanging from the roof of the Hammersmith Apollo waiting to make her grand entrance!

Her uplifting and inclusive performances have led to her taking the stage at events ranging from the Edinburgh International Book Festival to Pride in London, with many theatres, libraries, schools, nurseries, festivals and care homes in between. She regularly works with major publishers to promote their books and can often be seen alongside Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, who also appears with her at her family pride events in London.

As well as bringing popular picture books to life, Mama G also writes and performs her own stories. One of her most popular, ‘Eunice the Horse’, was turned into a stage musical in 2020 and two others have been published as picture books. ‘The Fairies Fran and Vera’ and ‘Dick Whittington’ are available from her website. Look out for her next book and album, ‘Mama G’s Story Time Song Book’, which will be available soon!

Mama G has been telling stories for almost five years, but has been a professional pantomime dame since 2005 (despite not looking old enough!) She has shared the stage with some of the UK’s most popular performers including Paul Daniels, B*Witched, Shane Lynch, Leslie Grantham and Tommy Steele.

“As a great charity focussed on making memories for the young people and families that need it the most, Forward Facing is a great match for Mama G. My work is all about making sure that everyone feels wonderful, no matter what is happening in their lives – so I’m thrilled to be able to support the work of an amazing charity that has the same goals.”
